Proteomics and Metabolomics Workshop

Proteomics and Metabolomics Workshop
October 11 & 18, 2023
Registartion is now Closed

$50.00 per person, per session. Space is limited to 15 participants per day.

October 11 - Metabolomics

This one-day Metabolomics Workshop is intended to introduce students and faculty to targeted and untargeted metabolomics, a rapidly growing technology in clinical diagnostics, drug discovery, food science, agriculture and environmental sciences; and broaden participants’ understanding of the data processing and insight differences between untargeted and targeted assays.

The workshop will include:

  • Hands-on experience with sample preparation.
  • Method optimization for targeted assay.
  • Interactive data analysis session.

Limited to 15 attendees.

3 DEMOS sessions (1h each*)

  • Metabolite extraction (liquid-liquid extraction, tissue lyzer)
  • Amino acid derivatization and UPLC (AccQ-Tag derivatization, UPLC set up)
  • QTRAP direct infusion (standard instrument optimization – Low resolution, targeted metabolomics)

*Groups of 5 will be rotating through the sessions throughout the day

October 18 - Proteomics

This one-day Proteomics Workshop is intended to educate students and faculty about some of the technologies and methodologies in the field of mass spectrometry-based proteomics. Our hands-on workshop will cover both practical and theoretical aspects of performing protein identification using a bottom-up approach. We will discuss sample preparation to liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry methods, through laboratory session and interactive data analysis session.

Limited to 15 attendees.

3 DEMOS sessions (1h each*)

  • SP3 Protein cleanup (contaminant removal, one-pot sample digestion)
  • Peptides zip tipping/QE direct infusion (mass spectrometry data acquisition of peptides)
  • LC-MS/MS on the Eclipse (high resolution mass spectrometry – peptides separation)

*Groups of 5 will be rotating through the sessions throughout the day
